National Weather Center Art Show in Norman, Oklahoma
National Weather Center Art Show
I have to say that we did visit quite a few museums and art shows, but this one, believe it or not, topped them all! I really mean it. Not to say that the other art wasn't good, but I really enjoyed the freshness, the newness of these artists. I guess it is similar to watching a movie on Netflix. I tend to watch the new movies, while some people like the old black and white movies, the classics. Now classics are still yet classics, but that doesn't mean I want to watch them over and over and over again. Give me the new stuff!! Don't get me wrong, it is nice to be able to see the classic artists work right there before my eyes, but it didn't excite me the way the art did at the National Weather Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
Okay, let me give you an example, which I thought was total coolness. We had been walking around outside the hotel where we were staying in Norman, Oklahoma and it had rained a few days previously. There was an old puddle of mud/clay that had dried out and it was actually really beautiful, so beautiful that we took a picture. Someone at the art show had done pretty much what nature had done and put it on canvas and called it art and it was one of the top 100 to be displayed!! Now that is what I am talking about. Some of the art was outrageously clever and I loved the fact that it was acknowledged as art even though it might not be considered "traditional art".
In 2015 they are having another art show at The National Weather Museum. I can't wait to see it.
