Steeping Times - Taste Test - Tea Journey

A travel blog may not be the place to write about tea.  Tea has led me around the world and across the galaxy, well not quite the galaxy, but it has led me to some pretty far-out places, so I have decided to write about tea here again, on this To And Fro Blog.

Tea Journey to Mitsuwa to Acquire More Tea

When I first followed Steeping Times on Twitter, I never thought it would be the beginning of such a beautiful relationship!  Steeping Times was one of the first and only people to thank me personally in a very non-spamming way for following them, by asking me what types of tea I enjoy.  I do love tea, and love any opportunity to talk about my passion, tea of all shapes, sizes and colors. So I responded and pretty much forgot about it.  But they responded back!  They told me about a free tea course of all things.  So, of course I accepted.  What could I lose?  It's free, right?  And I do love tea.

Expecting, that since I knew all there was to know about tea (I had been drinking tea since as far back as I could remember and I had been drinking green tea for over 20 years) Steeping Time's free course would be a nice "refresher course" for me.  I had, after all, read all those tea "how to" articles over all the years, what more was there to learn?

Well, the first thing was tea storage, of all things!  I found out I was doing it all wrong.  I had a beautiful set-up of all my precious teas on a rack in my kitchen.  I was very proud of all my teas and had to display them for all the world to see.  Wrong!  Steeping Times said to store tea in a cool, dark place away from strong odors (meaning MY kitchen - which always has strong aroma's emanating from it).

Here is the tea course and yes, it is free: ( I do recommend it)

Next, I found out I was making my tea wrong!  What a rude awakening, for me, anyhow.  Okay, I had to see if I was really doing it all wrong.  I was.  See the Taste Test results here:

So, I am still enrolled in this Tea Course and I have learned so much more than I ever thought I would.  I am so happy for taking the course and it was much easier too, than I thought it would be.  I wish Steeping Times would have been my teacher in that Particle Physics class!  Talk about a great teacher.  My memory isn't what it used to be, but Steeping Times makes learning easy and fun!

So, I did end up buying some tea from Steeping Times, though I was never told to.  All this free info. and nicety and humor had me hooked.  I just had to try their tea.  I ended up getting Assam, Lapsang Souchon, Darjeeling, China Gunpowder, Ceylon and Genmai Cha was thrown in as a free sample.  Here are my posted reviews so far.  I still have a few to try, but will update you as to how they are.

This Assam is sweet and mild, yet has that wonderful "tea" flavor Assam is known for, it reminds me of the tea from my childhood,

We received this as a free sample and were very excited to try it. I have tried many types of Genmai Cha but this one was the smoothest, nuttiest and most satisfying by far!

I love this Lapsang Souchon! This is the first time I was able to drink it plain. I usually add cayenne pepper, stevia and cream. I had a great idea, I will have to try mixing it in my B.B.Q. sauce. It filled the whole house with it's wonderful smoky fragrance and when I went back to the pot for more, it was all gone! My daughter drank it all! :D

There are so many things in this life that leave a bad taste in your mouth BUT NOT this Darjeeling. It leaves you wanting for more, so make a whole pot just for you, no sharing, tell them to make their own! :D
